Preparedness is so complicated and overwhelming, where do I start?

Preparedness is so complicated and overwhelming, where do I start?

Honestly, it’s true. There are a lot of categories to cover and a lot to know. But I’m a preparedness geek and I’m here to make it simple for you. The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time, so let’s take it step by step.

I’ve put together a simple 5-step guide that walks you through the process of getting prepared for an emergency. It is organized by priority, so all you need to do is start at the top and work your way down. It’s that easy!

Download the FREE guide HERE.

There are a bunch of free resources on the site, please take advantage of them! They are there for you and whoever you’d like to share them with. I am a firm believer that the more prepared each of us are, the stronger we are as a community and the less strain there will be on the individuals when an emergency happens.

I won’t go through the whole guide, but the first item on the list is a 96-hour kit. Get one for each member of your family, and build it according to their personal needs. This kit is a grab-and-go kit that has everything you’d need to survive for a few days with nothing but what’s in that pack. Keep them in an easily accessible place in your house or garage. Make sure everyone knows where they are, can get to them, and knows how to use each item inside. The time to learn all that stuff is NOT during the emergency.

I also keep a kit in my truck that I call my “get home kit.” I’m out and about a lot with work, errands, etc. and if something crazy happens that leaves me stranded or I need to walk home because the roads are jammed up or my truck can’t make it, I’ve got everything I need.

I will say, being properly prepared does require some thought, but let it be fun, not all doom and gloomy. If you’ve got any questions at all, I’d love to chat! Please reach out!

Have an amazing week everyone!
